The Attorney General's Office of Oaxaca (FGEO) announced this Friday that it is working on two lines of investigation into yesterday's murder of municipal official Guadalupe Urban from San Juan Cacahuatepec, one of which points to a family dispute. In a press release, the Public Ministry stated that the crime could be related to the incursion of a criminal cell operating between Oaxaca and Guerrero into the area. Likewise, the FGEO is analyzing a 'dispute over real estate that the victim's family had' as a possible motive for the attack. The crime was perpetrated on Thursday morning when Urban was shot with a firearm as she was leaving her home. Her body was found dead on the road leading to the neighboring community of San Antonio Ocotlán, Cacahuatepec, the state Attorney General's Office reported. The Attorney General confirmed that 'preliminary examinations reveal that it was an armed aggression perpetrated from a motorcycle,' according to preliminary reports. The official served as the citizens' representative for the Parks and Gardens area of the city council, a position she held in the current 2025-2027 municipal period. This murder adds to that of Israel Ramírez Peralta, municipal agent of Santa Catarina Juquila, in the community of San Marcos Zacatepec, also in Oaxaca, which occurred four days earlier.
